The FlexEze Heat Wrap fits up to 2 FlexEze Heat Patches. Please read directions on FlexEze Heat Patches before using with FlexEze Heat Wrap. Place FlexEze Heat Patches inside wrap pocket without removing adhesive strips fro ease of insertion and to achieve maximum therapeutic  heat benefit for back pain.

Insert 2 patches into Flexeze heatwrap pockets. Position pocket over the desired treatment area. Ideally suited for the low back region, however may also be wrapped around other joints and body parts.

Note: It may take up to 20 minutes for maximum heat to be attained. Heat will last approx. 12 hours.

HEAT WRAP THERAPY- Now a recommended treatment guideline for low back pain

The use of Flexeze patches together with the wrap allows for continuous low heat therapy, which is now regarded as a treatment guideline recommendation in the management of low back pain. This has been researched recently in a study.

During this study trial, Heat wraps were used in the emergency departments with presenting low back pain patients to develop improvements to current management of low back pain. This now completed trial ran for 7 months and supports for recommendations of change to current best practices of low back pain. This includes, not only the use of superficial heat wrap therapy, but a focus on reduction of imaging and opioid use combined with patient education in low back pain and self- management guidance. The study is currently being written up for publication due at the end of 2019.

Importantly for therapists to note is that the term ‘superficial heat’ used in treatment guideline recommendations refers to ‘low level continuous heat wrap therapy’ with the supporting RCT studies conducted on this form of thermotherapy rather than simply a hot water bottle or wheat bag/gel pack. Clinical advantages of Heat wraps over wheat bags/hot water bottles is to enable patients to remain ambulatory whilst receiving low level continuous heat therapy, encouraging movement and exercise. The combination of heat and motion aligns well with Physiotherapy practices and philosophy to actively increase soft tissue elasticity, promote circulatory function, inhibit pain signalling and improve trunk flexibility.

The American College of Physicians – ACP guidelines for back pain also recommend the use ‘superficial heat’ in the form of Heat wraps for low back pain
